The Olive Tree Restaurant
If you're passing through Ryde and craving a warm meal, a slice of cake, or simply a place to enjoy a good coffee, The Olive Tree Restaurant on Brading Road is a spot that deserves your attention. Tucked away with ample outdoor seating and full wheelchair accessibility, it’s one of those rare local gems that balances comforting dishes with genuine charm. From breakfast to dinner, this place brings more than just food-it brings familiarity, satisfaction, and a little bit of everything you didn’t know you wanted in a café-style restaurant.
One thing that sets The Olive Tree Restaurant apart is its menu-it reads like a greatest hits album of British comfort food. Whether you're stopping by for a hearty Gammon Steak and Eggs or opting for the crispy Fish Cakes and Chips, every dish feels homely yet satisfying. The portions are generous, the flavors are dependable, and the pricing is more than reasonable for the quality and portion size.
Let’s talk breakfast. It’s where The Olive Tree truly shines. You’ve got classics like the Mushroom Omelette and the Fully Loaded Burger (yes, that’s breakfast for some of us), alongside Stone Baked Pizzas Made to Order for those who prefer a heavier start. Their Veggie Omelette is a hit among those wanting something lighter yet still full of flavor, and the Paninis are a lunch favorite that never fails. For the little ones, the Kids Lunch Box Sandwich keeps things simple and familiar.
Now, if you’re a dessert-first kind of diner-or at least someone who always saves room for a treat-you’re in good hands. Their Carrot Cake & Coffee combo is exactly what rainy afternoons in the UK were made for. The Lemon Drizzle Cake? Bright and zesty without being overly sweet. And the Walnut and Lemon Cakes are delicate yet rich-perfect with one of their hand-selected teas or expertly brewed coffees. Not to be missed either is their Pavlova, light as a cloud with that ideal balance between crunchy meringue and soft center.
There’s a lot to say about their drinks, too. Coffee lovers often rave about the quality served here. It’s the kind of place where the barista knows the strength you prefer without asking, and the great tea selection ensures everyone finds something they enjoy, whether it’s a bold English Breakfast or a calming herbal infusion.
What also makes The Olive Tree Restaurant a crowd-pleaser is the ease of the entire experience. With a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, toilet, and car park, it’s designed for inclusivity. Whether you’re popping in solo for a quick bite or coming with friends for a long, relaxed lunch, the space feels welcoming and adaptable. The casual vibe makes it ideal for those who just want good food without the fuss.
On top of all that, the outdoor seating brings another layer of comfort-especially in the warmer months. Nothing beats sitting out with a cold drink and a fresh Brie and Bacon Baguette with Chips, people-watching and letting time pass a little more slowly.
Whether you're a local or a day-tripper, The Olive Tree Restaurant offers that reliable, unfussy experience so many places try to mimic but few actually master. With highlights like the Ham and Cheese Toastie, Lasagne, and Capricciosa Pizza, there's a little something here for every craving. And while it doesn't offer delivery, the dine-in atmosphere more than makes up for it-it’s a space to stay, relax, and truly enjoy the moment.
Reviews
We regularly eat at The Olive Tree restaurant inside Busy Bee Garden Centre. It is roomy and also has outside seating weather-permitting, as well as some tables allocated for visitors with dogs. The staff are always friendly, and always around keeping the eating areas clean and tidy. The food is always good. The pizzas are cooked in a pizza oven, with a good range and some great specials. The cake selection is legendary! We love visiting on our own, with family, and it’s a great place to meet up with friends. Highly recommended.
Just had fab breakfast. Shame no black pudding. But overall good. quality sausages. Wife had the biggest pavlova with cream and strawberries ever lush.
A lovely restaurant with plenty of seating that is inside the Busy Bees Garden Centre & that has ample free parking. They sell a good variety of hot & cold food & drink plus a good range of cakes, plus for those interested on Monday's & Wednesday's they do an OAP daily special that includes a main meal & dessert plus a tea or coffee for £8.95. Sadly when I visited on Monday they only had a limited range of cakes available as I was expecting great things after reading the Google reviews about enormous cakes, I chose the carrot cake & a black coffee, the cake was small & very dry plus the coffee was extremely weak, service was very slow too, maybe next time will be better? Just re-visited on my way back from my holiday, still a limited choice but the coffee & walnut cake I had was moist & so large that I had to leave some, plus the coffee was much stronger.
Great food, priced well & lovely atmosphere. Often busy well behaved pups are welcomed with their own seating area.
Stopped off here for a breakfast, very well presented, quality ingredients and friendly staff. The eggs weren’t runny as I like, but all in all a very nice way to start my holiday. Not cheap at £12 but feel it was worth the money
